Buy Local Bee Pollen – You Cannot Go Wrong
I know several bee keepers who use the bee products they produce themselves and never need to buy local bee pollen. Apart from saving on the cost, they know where they forage and that these areas are usually free of GM microbes and other nasty pollutants.
Beekeepers are also extremely healthy individuals and the record longevity of those who live in the Caucasus Mountains has been studied quite extensively. Most experts now agree that probably one of the main reasons is that these men and women are taking bee pollen, honey and propolis as an integral part of their daily diet.
But you may not be able to get to the farmers’ markets that often and you may not be ale to buy local bee pollen.
What is the next best thing?
Anybody can pick up bee pollen granules or capsules but then they never really know where these have come from. Very often they come from China or Asia. Those bees have been fed with antibiotics to keep them healthy and that spells trouble, basically for humans. Let me tell you why.
Why should Health Canada issue such a strong warning ?
If you go to the Health Canada website, you will see where they warn about chloramphenicol which is the main component of the antibiotic used to keep bees healthy in China. In Canada, these substances are banned for use with all food producing animals.
This antibiotic may be banned in Canada and other countries but that does not stop honey smugglers from mislabeling Chinese honey as Canadian!
Risk of a very rare but serious disease.
I think that you would have to take a lot of this contaminated honey to get ill but if you did, you would be suffering from what is called aplastic anemia which only affects one in every 30,000 persons or so. There is no cure for this very rare blood disorder. But there are also concerns that this chemical could be a carcinogen and might also cause genetic damage.
If you cannot buy local bee pollen, the next best thing is to look for superior companies who manufacture supplements to high GMP standards but also a proved a COA (Certificate of Analysis) for every batch that is produced. This ensures that there are no contaminants in there at all and that the processing systems they have in place are second to none.
As for foraging and harvesting, well, you could find no cleaner air or environment than in New Zealand, where this product I am recommending actually comes from.
